DETROIT, July 14, 2014 – MGM Grand Detroit, the city’s premier entertainment destination, announced that Wine Spectator magazine has bestowed its two Wolfgang Puck restaurants, Wolfgang Puck Steak and Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina, with several awards, praising them for their wine programs. The magazine provides an insider’s view of fine dining, wine travel and entertainment.
Wolfgang Puck Steak received the 2014 Best of Award of Excellence, which gives special recognition to restaurants with wine lists that display vintage depth or excellent breadth across several regions. The steakhouse, which was developed specifically for MGM Grand Detroit, carries more than 730 different wine selections at any given time and focuses on boutique, cult and vertical vintages of the most popular producers in the world. Well known for carrying California Cabernet Sauvignon, the restaurant also owns some of the most famous and rare producers in the industry. Wolfgang Puck Steak is one of the few restaurants in Detroit to earn this recognition.
Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina received the 2014 Award of Excellence, which honors wine lists that have a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. The restaurant, which offers old world traditional Italian comfort food, has 320 different wines, mostly from Italian producers.
“Our staff has dedicated themselves to building a world-class wine cellar at both restaurants,” said Shaun Page, sommelier, Wolfgang Puck Steak and Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina. “We are proud to have one of the best wine inventories in the state, in addition to a compelling beer and cocktail menu, which features a number of barrel aged, traditional beverages.”
Between the two restaurants, MGM Grand Detroit has an inventory of more than 8,500 bottles of wine in stock.
